EFCC quizzes Ex-FIRS Boss, Fowler over allegedly N5bn diversion

Former chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Mr. Babatunde Fowler, returned to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for further questioning.

Fowler was said to have reported to EFCC to account for allegedly diverted N5 billion in his tenure.

He was said to have also been questioned over alleged corruption while in office.

It could be recalled that Fowler had been earlier invited by the EFCC, over a case involving Alpha Beta Consulting Firm.

The consulting firm was reported to be promoted by Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, had been allegedly involved in fraud, including tax evasion.

The anti-graft agency is yet to release details of the allegations against the former FIRS boss, besides alleged diversion of funds running into billions of naira.

Before he was appointed head of FIRS, Fowler served as Chairman of the Lagos Internal
