Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 14th Emir of Kano and Khalifa of Tijjaniya, has demanded that the killer of Haneefa Abubakar be prosecuted immediately and publicly.

Haneefa Abubakar, a 5-year-old girl, was kidnapped and murdered by her teacher in Kano.

According to Emir Sanusi, “Those responsible should immediately charge the killer to court, and the court should prosecute him based on the evidence at hand.”

“If Nigeria has a fair justice system, the killer would have been prosecuted by now.”

“And if the general public had taken the law into their own hands, the killer would have been dead by now,” he continued.

The Khalifa also expressed his sympathies to the public, emphasizing that Haneefa is “our daughter.”

He went on to say that the tragic events have left an imprint on everyone’s heart.
