The Kano State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) 2019 gubernatorial candidate, Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf has denied issuing a statement regarding 2023.

Yusuf, in a statement signed by his Media Assistant, Ibrahim Adam, said that his attention has been drawn to a misinterpreted publication of a post made by his former Spokesperson, Mr. Sunusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, in some online newspapers, attributed to him.

“To put the record straight, the 2019 PDP governorship candidate has not issued any media release regarding plans for 2023 as reported by some online media outfits.”

According to the assistant, after the supreme court verdict in January 2020, Abba Gida Gida has chosen to maintain a low media exposure to concentrate on his businesses and building the party.

He called on the general public to note that Mr Sanusi Bature, served as spokesperson to HE Engr. Abba K. Yusuf between October 2018 and January 2020 and “has discharged his duty diligently and never been found wanting on his job as a PR expert.”

He added that, “let it be on record that Mr Bature has since moved on with his career to another organization and like every citizen of Kano he is entitled to a personal opinion as expressed on his personal social media account.”

“As a political leader, HE Engr. Abba K. Yusuf’s concern at the moment is to consolidate the momentum of party (PDP) and that of the Kwankwasiyya movement.”

“We therefore call on our Party supporters and the good people of Kano State to disregard the misrepresented media publication being circulated,” according to the statement.
