A distressed mother, Bara’atu Inuwa Gayawa, has appealed to the management of Abdullahi Wase Specialists Hospital, Kano, the State Police Command, and the public to help in locating her twin baby that was stolen in the hospital premises.
The mother told SAHELIIN TIMES that she was sitting with her twins on the premises of the hospital on Tuesday when they saw a stranger whom they did not trust staring at them.
“My sister advised that we should change our location as we were left alone with the stranger we cannot trust,” she said.
“We were trying to pack and leave when a pregnant woman approaches us and asked if the babies are twins,” the mother said.
“She admires the twin and we prayed that may her pregnancy also ended up being twins, she confided in us that X-ray scanning has shown that she also carrying twin.”
“The woman checked on us twice some minutes to one ( 1) in the morning asking if we have fallen asleep.”
She said that they finally fall asleep after one (1) in the morning and upon waking up later they found out one of the twins is gone.
According to her, they started looking for her child asking if a ‘doctor’ has picked him up for examination.
She claimed that some of the staff in the hospital has seen the suspicious woman when she was trying to leave the hospital premises.
“The suspect told some of the staff that she was discharged and was asked to return in the woman, she entered a car and elope,” she said.
The head of the Nursing department of the hospital Salisu Umar Durumin Iya while confirming the incident said that the baby was not under their care as they were not admitted to any of their rooms.
“The mother did not deliver the babies in the hospitals and upon checkup, we find out the babies have some medical issues and the mother was ok,” he said.
He noted that “the mother later picked up the babies and went out to the hospital premises with them.”
Durumin iya faulted the mother for not reporting the suspicious movement of the woman in question
