FAAN suspends Airport officials for allegedly extorting passenger

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the suspension some of its staff for alleged extortion of passengers at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Henrietta Yakubu, disclosed this in a statement in Lagos on Saturday.

Yakubu stated that the action was taken in accordance with management’s determination to rid the nation’s airports of corrupt staff.

According to her, the suspended staff drawn from the Authority’s Aviation Security and Customer Service departments.

She stated that their accomplices from Nigerian Immigration Service have their “On Duty Card” revoked.

Yakubu said the action was taken to serve as deterrent to other bad eggs in the system that are bent on tarnishing the image of the country. (NAN)
