A member of the House of Representatives from Kano state, Honourable Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada, has called for the immediate disbandment of anti-daba police unit.

Honorable Sharada, who is also the lower chamber’s Chairman of House Committee on National Security and Intelligence, made the call when he visited the Kano state Commissioner of Police on Sunday.

The visit followed the Saturday killings of two innocent young men by the police officers from the anti-daba unit.

It would be recalled that, SahelianTimes reported the killings of the two youths on Saturday, which generated tension in the ancient city that day.

The lawmaker then contended that, phasing out of such unpopular police units at all levels should be part of the ongoing critical reforms of the police.

Kano state police command’s spokesman, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, had told newsmen that the accused police officers were already in custody to allow thorough investigation into the unfortunate development.
