The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has expressed confidence that everything will be sorted out with the microblogging site, Twitter, within “a few days or weeks”.

Mohammed disclosed this Wednesday while fielding questions from State House reporters after the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He said the federal government team reached agreements in most areas of contention with the platform, a development which showed that the suspension on Twitter’s activities in Nigeria would soon be lifted.

The minister, who gave more details of the conditions given to the platform, said most of them had been accepted.

He said the areas still pending such as Twitter setting up an office, and having a Twitter staff of management cadre that will serve as the country representative, are still being discussed.

Mohammed revealed that in the area of a Nigerian office, even though Twitter has agreed to the condition, it is however maintaining that the earliest it can establish it is 2022.

He said the federal government’s committee negotiating with Twitter will meet on the agreement soon to make recommendations.
