Former Aljazeera journalist Mohammed Adow, has been elected as Kenya’s Wajir South Member of Parliament.
Mohammed Adow, who was a correspondent for the worldwide media, gained the parliamentary seat on an Orange Democratic (ODM) ticket.
Adow polled 13,990 votes to defeat the incumbent MP Mohamud Sheikh Mohammed.
Sheikh Mohammed, who was his nearest competitor, garnered 4,293 votes.
The other contestants in the race included Abdullahi Yussuf Noor who got 7,317 votes; Mohamed Kahiye Bullet 1,274; Khalif Abdi Ali collected 654 votes and Dekow Noor Ali had 53 votes respectively.
It was his first try on the parliamentary seat and fortunately got here out victorious over rivals which included the present MP, Mohammed.
