Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has many corruption cases to answer says the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption(PACAC).
The committee’s Executive Secretary, Sadiq Radda, stated this on Thursday at the 26th Anti-Corruption Situation Room (ACSR) evaluation in Abuja.
Ganduje was in October 2018 seen in a scandalous video pocketing wads of American dollars in what was said to be bribe payments from public works contractors.
Ganduje on the videos could be seen collecting the dollars before rolling them into his white dress, “babbar riga,” in one of a series of questionable deals allegeldly struck over a span of several months.
SAHELIAN TIMES reported in October 2021 that Hafsat, Ganduje’s wife, was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged fraud.
According to reports, Hafsat was arrested in response to a petition filed by her son, Abdulazeez, who claimed his mother was involved in bribery and fraud.
Radda expressed his surprise at Ganduje’s son’s reporting of his mother to anti-corruption officials for alleged fraud.
He said the governor “has many cases to answer while in office and even more after leaving office”.
“You can see in Kano, Ganduje has many cases to answer while in office, he will answer more out of office, and sadly for the first time in Nigeria a son is taking his mother to the EFCC,” Radda said.
Femi Falana, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), who was at the event, said the Buhari administration was losing the war against corruption.
