The Press Secretary of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Abba Anwar, was on Friday caught influencing fake news about a crisis in the PDP Kwankwasiya.
Anwar shared the fake news on various WhatsApp platform, and pledged that the members should spread it on social media platforms.
The fake news was to deliberately create speculation about Kwankwaso’s imminent defection to another party.
Responding to the defection claim, an insider who preferred anonymity, described the story as “fake” and a “making of the APC with the intention of reviving the followership of their dying party.”
He also alleged that, “stories like this are the sponsored by the Ganduje’s administration to distract the attention of Kwankwasiyya followers.”
According to the news being circulated by Ganduje’s staunch supporters, the Kwankwasiya faction is allegedly in crisis following protest by some key stakeholders of the group against the candidature of Abba Kabir Yusuf as PDP gubernatorial aspirant, come 2023.
