Ghastly Accident: 6 Traders Died, 70 others sustain injuries in Bauchi

At least six people have reportedly died in a fatal auto crash involving over 70 traders along Darazo-Dukku road in Bauchi state.

The passengers, who are traders, were in a trailer from Darazo town, Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State on their way to Dukku market in Gombe State, Wednesday morning, when the incident occurred.

Yusuf Abdullahi, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Bauchi State, Assistant Corp Commander, confirmed the accident, saying that the FRSC had a tough time carrying out a rescue operation and the exact number of casualties is yet to be ascertained.

“Yes, there was an accident this morning involving over 70 people who were in a truck going to Dukku market,” Yusuf Abdullahi said.

He added that “The truck skidded off the road and threw out the passengers who hung onto the truck. It took us (FRSC) hours to carry out the rescue operation and presently, the victims are being sorted out”.

He further said he cannot comfirm the exact number of casualties but some of the traders have died and as soon as they’re done sorting out, he will make the details available to the general public.
