A gang of armed men on Saturday ambushed a police vehicle before abducting a 60-year old man, in Taura, Jigawa State.
ASP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command, who confirmed the store in a state said the incident happened in the afternoon.
“A distress call was made, which a team of police patrol team in an improvized vehicle rushed to the scene. Suddenly, the hoodlums ambushed and shot at the vehicle,” he said.
No casualty was recorded in the ambush, however, according to him.
The police spokesman gave the name of the victim as Alhaji Kabiru Ahmed.
“ Effort is on to rescue the victim and possible apprehension of the hoodlums, ” he noted.
