Gunmen kill 15 people in sokoto, cart away their cows

Gunmen stormed Tanau village in Sabon Birni local government in Sokoto state, killing more than 15 people and rustled their cows.

An eye witness told SAHELIAN TIMES that the incident happened at around 1am on Friday, when the gunmen stormed the village and start firing bullets sporadically the situation that forced many people to ran for their lives.

“When they arrived they just started firing bullets everywhere and started searching houses bringing out animals and some valuables,” he added.

He added that “After they finished the operation, they ran away with what they stole but some youths in the village and and members of the vigilante followed them but the gunmen lurked inside the bush. Unfortunately, when the youths arrived at the place where they lurked, they ambushed them, killing many.”

He said the deceased will be buried today according to Islamic rites while those that sustained series of injuries were taken to hospital for medical attention.

He further said Tanau village and its environs in Sabon Birni local government has been experiencing series of attacks by bandits and kidnappers.
