Kidnappers in Kano murdered their 5-year-old victim despite receiving N6 million in ransom.

Hanifa Abubakar, the victim, was abducted by kidnappers on December 4, 2021.

The kidnappers allegedly used a commercial tricycle to entice her into a joyride.

On the specified date, she was abducted around 5:00 p.m., shortly after the deceased returned from Islamiyya school.

The keke riders, according to eyewitnesses, enticed Hanifa back shortly after he dropped her among the neighborhood children.

The kidnappers were apprehended near Zaria Road in Kano on Wednesday night while attempting to collect the second installment of the ransom.

Her uncle, Suraj Suleiman disclosed that the abductor first took her to his wife, but the wife rejected to keep her.

“The kidnapper first took Hanifa to his wife, but the wife refused to keep her. He then took her to Tudunwada where he operates a private school, and then laced her tea with rat poison,” her uncle said.

“After she was poisoned to death, the kidnappers then cut her body into pieces and buried it within the school.”

Her remains were recovered on Thursday at a mushroom private school in Tudunwada area of Kano.

The Kano State Police Command spokesperson confirmed that they have Hanifa’s abductor in custody and that they will soon make their findings public.
