The released of the abducted students of Government Science Secondary School Kankara, Katsina State, was on Thursday night confirmed by State government.

Governor Aminu Masari in an interview with newsmen said that the release was successfully brokered by the leadership of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN).

Shortly after the abduction, Zamfara state government through MACBAN national chairman, who led the negotiations, opened negotiations with the abductors who happened to be Fulani gunmen operating along Katsina-Zamfara-Sokoto axis.

BBC Hausa reported that negotiators sat at least three times before an agreement was reached. The first two sittings hit a brick wall.

The gunmen indicated that their major grouse is how their cattle are being killed indiscriminately and the abuse they suffer in the hands of vigilante groups and local neighborhood watch members.

The abducted students were received, by a delegation of Zamfara state government, from the hands of the military that brought them out of Tsafe forests at around 6 pm on Thursday.

Governor Bello Matawalle revealed that no ransom has been paid for the release. He also debunked the claim of responsibility for the abduction by Boko Haram
