Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has denied the existence of any rift between him and a former Governor of Kano State, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau.
Kwankwaso, who stated this in a chat with the BBC Hausa, on Wednesday morning, declared that the rumored rift between his faction and that of Shekarau is far from the truth.
The former governor of Kano was commenting on reports that emerged on Tuesday, speculating that Shekarau was making preparations to defect to the PDP, after an alleged failure by Kwankwaso to fulfill the promises made to him when he was joining the NNPP.
According to him, most of the demands for automatic tickets that the Shekarau faction submitted were tabled after the deadline for submission of names to INEC had elapsed.
“His people submitted the names of some people they wanted to be given automatic tickets, after the INEC deadline for submission of names had elapsed. I told them that and promised that when we all get elected, those who have missed out would get compensated with appointments,” the presidential candidate said.
Senator Kwankwaso also added that this will not cause any problem for the NNPP, and he has an excellent relationship with Shekarau.
