A businessman, who preferred to remain anonymous, recounted to SAHELIAN TIMES how he lost 5 siblings; two women and three men that were killed in the Shasha market crisis.

The family has so far counted a loss of over N100 million worth of properties which include 4 luxurious houses and trailers.

A family source, in an exclusive interview with SAHELIAN TIMES said, ” it has been an experience we will never forget, and a loss that will hardly ever be recovered.”

“I was busy making calls to check on the people I know and family relatives, when we realised that two of my sisters, and our three brothers are were nowhere to be found”, He said.

“It was much later that we found out our sisters, Farida Abdullahi and Bilkisu Abdullahi, were burnt to death in their shops,”

“The family didn’t fully recover from the shock, when the bodies of our 3 brothers, Imran Abdullahi, Yakubu Abdullahi and Nasir were found the next day”. He cried

While lamenting over the loss of lives and properties, he said that the family is still counting their loss. “So far we have counted over N100 million.”

Commenting on the visit of northern governors to the scene of the killings, he said ” of course there are few Yoruba’s that saved our peoples ( northerners) lives by providing hiding places in their residences, but majority of them have participated in killings,”

“It is disappointing that a governor from a northern state attributed the killings to a usual ethnic clash”. He lamented.
