Kaduna State Governor, Mallam has said that he requested President Muhammadu Buhari to let governors whose states are affected by banditry hire mercenaries to take the battle to the bandits if the Federal Government would not do it.

The governor also warned that the activities of bandit groups operating in northern Nigeria could sound the death knell for the entire country.

El-Rufai, who spoke at a special press briefing shortly after a meeting with President Buhari, said he has reminded the president of the need for a massive bombardment of forests to rid the state of terrorists.

“I told President Buhari that if we do not take this action, the attacks will continue, and they will destabilize Nigeria, because the bandits do not fear anyone, including the authorities.

“They’re proud, they’re making money; why can’t we kill them all? Everyone knows where they’re hiding,” he said.

He also stated that preliminary investigations revealed that the recent attack in Kaduna was not like previous attacks.

The attack, he claims, was carried out with the assistance of Boko Haram terrorists.

However, he stated that the president had promised him that would put an end to the threat soon.
