Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), popularly known as Shi’ites, were on Monday attacked and their property burnt at Dorayi Quarters in Gwale Local Government of Kano State.

A source, who spoke to SAHELIAN TIMES, disclosed that residents of the community have been at loggerheads with one of the members of the IMN who they alleged had used his plot of land for the religious sect’s activities.

The residents were angered by the activities of the sect members and meted out jungle justice on the man, who they accused of inviting the followers of the Shia sect to the community.

Also burnt during the protest was a car belonging to one of the IMN members in the area.

Meanwhile, the state police command has arrested some of the residents in connection with the incident.
