Industrial waste storage facility likely source of toxic outbreak in Kano

The source of the toxic substances released into the air, which poisoned over 70 people in Kano State could be an industrial waste storage facility.

SAHELIAN TIMES reported how an outbreak of suspected toxic substances triggered a medical emergency among the residents of a Kano city’s suburb on Friday.

Members of a vigilant group in the affected community, Mundau, in Sharada, Gwale Local Government of the state helped in evacuating residents and also sealed the leak facilities with heap of sand.

At the time of filing this report, interested parties in the state were working to identify the nature of pollutants that in the area.

Victims of the toxins are being treated at the Murtala Muhammad Specialists Hospital in the state.
