Some villages in Shiroro Local Government Area ravaged by gunmen in Niger State have negotiated a ceasefire deal with bandits.

The villages have been under series of attacks by bandits for months which resulted many residents lost their lives, and unspecified number of people are still in Kidnapper’s den.

According to co-convener, Concerned Shiroro Youths, Sani Abubakar Yusuf Kokki, said all villages in Gurmana and Manta districts of Shiroro, have negotiated with bandits.

He said, “Virtually all Communities and Villages in Gurmana and Manta Districts of Shiroro local government, Niger State, have negotiated with terrorists for a ceasefire.

They have reached an agreement to pay a certain amount of money, among other conditions, including purchasing Honda Motorcycles for the bandits.

He added that, “Also, some Communities and Villages in Bassa/Kukoki Ward have followed suit by agreeing to pay a certain amount of money among others while the bandits suspend their nefarious activities.”

Niger State is one of the bandits-infested states in Northern Nigeria, and on Monday, the state Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello confirmed that Boko Haram insurgents have hoist flag in some villages.
