Troops of the Operation Hadin Kai have reportedly repelled an onslaught on the Mafa Local Government Area in the northeastern Borno State.

Numerous armed terrorist, many of whom were thought to be ISWAP members, invaded the  town on motorcycles and weapons trucks before launching a sustained firefight with the military.

According to Zagazola Makama, who is very familiar with insurgency in the region, the troops thwarted the terrorists’ incursion in a fierce gun battle.

“They attempted to attack us through Charly Papa 1, but we are able to foil their evil plans. The terrorists were pounded severely. They were forced to retreat and fled, abandoning their evil mission. No casualty on the side of the troops” said a military source.
