Islamic scholars want number of mosques in Kano reduced

The Council of Islamic Scholars in Kano State has called on the people to reduce the number of mosques they build in order to stop the tendency towards disunity among Muslims in the state.

The Assistant General Secretary of the council, Professor Muhammad Babangida Muhammad, gave the advice while speaking in a programme on Freedom Radio monitored by Sahelian Times.

Prof Muhammad advised Imams of mosques to utilize the existing mosques for offering prayers, lectures and educational classes.

The Council also advised the Imams to tighten the bonds of kinship among themselves in the true spirit of Islam.

It also advised Imams to be always offer sincere advice to all leaders on the burden that is placed upon them to lead the people aright at all times.
