Jigawa State Assembly passes bill into law, sentences rapists to death sentences and life imprisonment. The passage of the bill followed the adoption of the report of the House Committee on Islamic affairs.
The law also contained life imprisonment to whoever caught raping and death sentences if the rapist infects the victim with HIV/AIDS.
Report says the house passed the bill after all members agreed with the report conducted by committee on Islamic affairs headed by Abubakar Jallo.
The Speaker of the house, Idris Garba announced the passage of the after it was unanimously agreed by the 30 House members, representing the 27 council areas of the state.
The law, to be transmuted to Governor Muhammed Badaru for assent, has 58 recommendations, including life imprisonment for rape offenders and death sentence without an option of fine for infecting rape victim (s) with HIV/AIDS.
