The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has chosen Delta state Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as running mate.
Atiku stated this while addressing members of the Board of Trustees (BoT) at the party’s headquarters on Thursday afternoon, in Abuja.
Atiku said he has consulted with all organs of the party in reaching the decision, he also said the party’s unity is critical for good campaign and ruling the country and as such very happy to announce the running mate today.
Sahelian Times had earlier reported how Mr Okowa, a former senator and a second term governor, was chosen ahead of serving governors and high-profile politicians in the South-East and South-South regions.
Pundits believe that the choice of Mr Okowa was made because of his calm nature and modest track record as Governor, and Mr Wike was dropped due to his combative nature.
