A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has restrained Gov. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje  from borrowing N10 billion from Access Bank.

Responding to the suit filed by the Kano First Forum’s Chairman, Dr. Yusuf Sheik Isyaka Rabiu, the presiding judge, Justice A. M Liman, ordered the Kano state government to stay action pending determination of the case.

Those joined as respondents in the suit are the Governor of Kano State, Honourable Commissioner of Finance, Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly, Access Bank PLC, Federal Ministry of Finance, Debt Management Office, and Fiscal Responsiblity Commission.

The plaintiff argued that they objected to the borrowing because it did not follow the guidelines and norms that apply to loan transactions.
