Nigeria has dropped yet again in Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) ranking for 2021. (TI).

The country received 24 out of 100 points in the 2021 index, according to the report released on Tuesday.

The country dropped from 26 in 2019 to 25 in 2020, and then to 24 in the most recent 2021 assessment.

The CPI is TI’s tool for measuring the levels of corruption in various countries’ systems around the world.

The maximum number of points a country can receive is 100, and the lowest is zero. The worst-performing countries are represented by a score of zero, while the best-performing countries are represented by a score of 100.

Nigeria remains 149th out of 180 countries surveyed, making it the second most corrupt country in West Africa.

The ranking could indicate that corruption in the country has worsened over time.
