Just in:  Uncompleted  building collapses in Kano

A yet to be ascertained number of people are currently trapped after an uncompleted three-storey building collapsed, at the Beirut Road market in Kano.

Although details from the accident site are sketchy, Sahelian Times gathered that the building collapsed after 2:00pm on Tuesday, with a number of laborers and roadside traders believed to be trapped under the rubble, and rescue efforts are ongoing at the scene of the incident.

Eyewitnesses who spoke to newsmen at scene, alleged that the building had previously collapsed, but its construction was started over again, and the pillars of the building had indicated weakness.

It was further gathered that the story building, which is under construction is a private public partnership between the Kano State Government and a private company.
