Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, has assented the bill prescribing death penalty for bandits, informants and cultists.
According to the new law, which was passed by the State House of Assembly, anyone found to be aiding and abetting the crimes mentioned is also liable to life imprisonment, 20 or 10 years imprisonment without an option of fine, depending on the level of his or her involvement.
This drastic action is coming on the heels of increasing banditry in the state.
Recall that a few days ago, Governor Matawalle had given a directive to the state indigenes to start owning guns for self defense.
