The police in Nigeria have revealed the identity of the officer seen recently in a viral picture casting vote at the Kano State’s All Progressive Congress (APC’s) congress.
According to a statement signed by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Zone one headquarters, DSP, Abubakar Zayyanu Ambursa, the officer in the picture was identified as Inspector Bashir Mohammed of the Special Protection Unit, Base One, Kano.
“The inspector is attached to Government House, Kano from where he was deployed to work with the said Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas as a security aide,” he said.
He added that “In view of this seemingly unprofessional conduct of the inspector, the AIG has referred the matter to the Zonal X Squad for investigation.”
Ambursa said that if the inspector is found to have committed disciplinary offence by this action, appropriate disciplinary measures will be taking against him.
