The Kano State leadership of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has called on the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to punish the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Doguwa, over alleged public display of indiscipline.
The ALGON Chairman, Muhammad Baffa Takai, said in a statement on Thursday that what Doguwa did was contradictory to the teaching of the APC and Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s ethos.
Baffa also asserted that all 44 local government chairmen stand in solidarity with the party leadership in this crisis.
A new crisis has recently erupted within the ruling APC in Kano, where Doguwa is being accused of injuring the party’s deputy gubernatorial candidate, Murtala Garo, with a teacup during a meeting.
However, Doguwa, has denied attacking Garo and insisted that the latter slipped on the broken cup and got injured out of rage .
On the part of Garo, he told BBC Hausa that Doguwa violently invaded a meeting at the deputy governor’s residence and made several “baseless accusations” against the gathering, including the deputy governor, Nasiru Gawuna, who is also the party gubernatorial candidate,
Garo alleged that Doguwa injured him with a teacup while he was trying to defend himself against some of the accusations.
