Almost 24 hours after Premium Times newspaper’s damning report on how the son of Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje dragged his mother, Hafsa Umar Ganduje, to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) in an alleged bribery allegation, the Government has not yet issued any official response.

Many watchers of the unfolding saga from the state are surprised that the government is ignoring such grave allegation despite its obvious negative consequences to the image if the first family.

Premium Times had the reported that firs lady was invited to report at the EFCC’s headquarters but she shunned the invitation thereby risking arrest.

Her son, Abdulaziz, dragged his mother to the commission after being frustrated with his mother’s refusal to refund the “facilitating” money she allegedly received.

According to the paper, Abdulaziz petitioned the EFCC, claiming that he was approached by a property developer to help facilitate the acquisition of some plots of land in Kano with some hundreds of thousands of US dollars and at least 35 million naira as “facilitation commission”.

Abdulazeez, reportedly, paid the amount in dollars to his mother, Hafsat Ganduje but months later, the property developer saw that the plots of land he wanted had been allocated to other buyers and wanted a refund.
