A security guard was arrested by the Kano State Police Command for allegedly tearing and stepping on segments of the Holy Quran in the state.
The suspect who is yet to be identified by name was reportedly saved from being lynched by the angry residents of Kuntau neighborhood when Hisbah Board operatives quickly intervened.
He was later handed over to the police and is currently being detained by them in an undisclosed division where an investigation over his alleged offence is ongoing.
The spokesman for the Kano police command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the incident and said that the suspect is in police custody.
He promised to get the entire information of what happened as well as the status of the investigation and get back to our correspondent with the details.
