Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano State, Alhaji Shehu Wada Sagagi, has demanded for immediate resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Ayorchia Ayu.
Sagagi, who made this known to newsmen on Tuesday, said Ayu had earlier promised to resign from his position whenever a Northerner emerges as the party’s presidential candidate.
“Now that a Northerner has been nominated, he should respect this agreement, because our brothers from the South can fully make up their mind to vote our party,” he said.
Speaking further, Sagagi added that “Presidential candidate from the North, party chairman from the North, chairman of the Board of Trustees from the North, chairman of the party’s Governors Forum from the North, keep on going this way is unjust to the southerners.”
The chairman also announced that the party’s executives in Kano have reiterated their allegiance to the PDP despite their seeming connection to the presidential candidate of the NNPP, Sen Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
He also added that they are fully ready to campaign for the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and other candidates of the PDP.
