Kano Pillars coach resigns, Ibrahim Musa takes over

Nigeria Professional Football League Giants, Kano Pillars FC, have confirmed that they have received the resignation letter of Technical Adviser, Emmanuel Lionel Soccoia on Wednesday afternoon.

In a statement signed by the media officer of the club, Rilwanu Idris Malikawa Garu, said the resignation letter was tendered to the club two hours before the kickoff of the Nigeria Professional Football League Match Day 16 between Kano Pillars and the league leaders, Kwara United FC.

Malikawa said, the French Tactician has absconded from his duty as the Technical Adviser since after the Match Day 15 fixture away to Abia Warriors which the Sai Masu Gida lost by 4-1 at the Weekend and was not sighted today, Wednesday 17th March 2021 at the Ahmadu Bello stadium Kaduna, venue of Pillars home matches.

“The management of the club were surprised by Mr. Lionel’s action as he inculcated in the habit of shunning important discussions/meetings with the club whenever he was called upon which the management described as failing to repay the club the faith shown on him,” Malikawa said

He added that the management of the club will keenly study the reasons he cited for the resignation.

According to Malikawa, in the entire history of Kano Pillars FC, they have never maltreated any coach they worked with and has assured that the team would study Mr. Lionel’s contract for necessary action.

He said, the action of the Technical Adviser did not go down well with the club and has described Mr. Lionel as a complete gentleman.

On the issue of interference, Malikawa said, the management have never interfered in the affairs of the coaches and any other department of the club.

“Henceforth, Ibrahim A. Musa will take charge of the club pending further decisions to be taken at the club,” the statement said.

Malikawa then called on the players to be focused for the task ahead and should not allow this development to distract them.
