The Nigerian Police Command in Kano State has assured maximum security and a level playing ground for all political parties to ensure peaceful electioneering processes.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the spokesman of the command, SP. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on Wednesday.
He said the Kano State Police Command, under CP Mamman Dauda, has rejigged its anti-crime strategies and continued with stakeholders engagements to ensure a peaceful election process.
Kiyawa explained that eight suspects were arrested for various offences ranging from unlawful possession of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) to the violation of electoral acts.
Adding that the suspects were charged to various courts of law for prosecution.
“The CP, however, appreciates the people of Kano State for their continuous support, encouragement, and cooperation.
“He urged residents to report incidents to the nearest police station and not take laws into their hands,” the statement read in part.
SP Kiyawa also noted that the raids of criminal hideouts and black spots would continue throughout the state to ensure a peaceful atmosphere before, during, and after the election.
