Kano police parade Quranic school teacher for torturing 8-year old pupil

Kano State Police Command nabbed a 24-year-old Almajiri school teacher for torturing his 8-year-old pupil, Muhammad Garba.

The teacher identified as Ma’aruf Muhammad is accused of severely torturing the boy with a USB cable wire on several occasions.

The boy was found by a good Samaritan roaming around a culvert near Kofar Mata Quarters Kano, with multiple scars all over his body.

The case was reported to the police by the Managing Director of Kano State Agency for Evacuation and Repatriation of Beggars, Mallam Usaini Uba.

The state police command spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the 8-year old boy hails from Nguru, Yobe State, but escaped to Kano State by train to avoid the severe torture he was been subjected by his teacher.

An investigation by the police also revealed that the child was brought to the teacher by his grandmother.

The grandmother identified as  Talle Muhammad  “was subsequently arrested, and the father of the victim was also arrested,” the police said.

“The suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation,” according to the police report.
