Residents of Hausawa quaters in Kano Municipal Local Government, have protested the alleged sale of land belonging to Hausawa Primary School.

The angry residents said that they don’t know who was responsible for the land grabbing, but they believed to be officials from the state government.

“There was no prior notice that the plots is going to be sold, but we just woke up to see some people grabbing the plots in the school.”

One of the protesters, Sadiq Abdullahi, claimed that the school needs more classes, but the government allegedly decided to sell off what was left of its premises rather than building more classrooms in the spaces.

The Ganduje administration was alleged to have been curving plots at public places such as schools, Mosques, Markets, as well as along major streets especially in the city and other places demarcated for recreational centres within the city and other major towns.

The indiscriminate selling of public lands near state highways, markets, and educational facilities has caused a lot of disquiet among government officials and expert in town planning.
