Kano: Shari’a Court to probe missing N345m from orphanage account.

Kano Sharia Court of appeal has set up a committee to probe missing N345 million from orphanage accounts in the state.

The monies which are inheritance meant for orphans was kept in an account with Stanbic IBTC Bank, but the monies were withdrawn by an “unknown culprit.”

While confirming the story, the Secretary of the state Sharia Commission, Sheik Haruna Khalil said that only N9 million was left in the said account.

He added that, “we still don’t know the culprits who forged signatures of the signatories to the account to withdraw the monies”.

Computers that had the financial statements of the account were also stolen, reports show that the computers of the court management were stolen after the committee was formed.

Grand  Khadi, Dr. Tijjani Yusuf Yakasai, confirmed the incident, saying that they have forwarded the case to the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission.

The Anti-corruption boss, Barrister Mahmud Balarabe, said they’ve gone far in their investigation of the matter.

“We’ve invited all the people involved in this scandal; right from the staff of the courts to the bankers of Stanbic IBTC,” he said.

The manager of Stanbic IBTC bank, Malam Kabiru Ƙiru, said to Freedom Radio that he is not in a position to say anything about the issue.
