The Kano State Consumer Protection Council has commenced investigation into the circumstances that led to the poisoning outbreak which reportedly killed 2 people and made over 167 sick in the state.
In an interview with the spokesperson of the council who told SAHELIAN TIMES that, ” their men are currently conducting shop to shop operation in the market,”
SAHELIAN TIMES investigations revealed that expired products were last month brought into Singer market in the state, as the holy month of Ramadan approaches.
A marketer in the based in the market exclusively told our reporter that, ” Major importers from the Southern part of the country connived with bad elements in our market and brought the product into the state.”
He added that, the products are widely dispersed in the market, ” only God knows how far it has traveled.”
The paper also gathered that the distribution of the affected patients cut across 8 different local government areas in the state.
