Kano State Government denies plan to drop murder charges against Doguwa

The Kano State Government has denied any plan to drop murder charges against the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa.

Some legal practitioners in Kano have on Friday raised the alarm over an alleged plan to stop a murder case against Doguwa.

However, reacting on Friday, lead counsel at the Kano State Ministry of Justice, Barrister Lamido Abba Soron Dinki denied any plan to either discontinue the trial or drop capital charges against the lawmaker.

Lamido, added that they will ensure that justice will be served in the case, enshrined by law.

Doguwa, has been remanded in prison after a five-count charge including culpable homicide, criminal conspiracy, causing grievous hurt, mischief by fire, and inciting public disturbance.

Senior Magistrate Ibrahim Mansur Yola remanded him on Wednesday after a court sitting at the Kano Magistrate Court, following his arrest by the Kano State Police Command on Wednesday.
