Kano’s censorship agency declares “Safarau”, 442 wanted over production of “indecent” music

Kano State Government have declared two musicians wanted for using their songs to promote indecency and immorality.

 The Executive Secretary of the Kano State Censorship Board, Ismail Afakallah, declared that the music’s content violated the standards set by his board.

He appealed to the public to assist in the arrest and prosecution of the two socialites in court.

Afakallahu also ordered that their songs should not be played in event centres and ceremonies across the state.

The two musicians known as Safarau and Mr.442 have gained popularity in recent months and are well-known for utilising coarse language in their songs. mostly shared on TikTok and other social media platforms.

Safarau, whose real name is Safiya Yusuf, was a popular actress in the Arewa 24 television serial Kwana Casa’in.

She was later kicked out of the series after her sex tape was supposedly released by her partner to the public.

A native of Zaria, Kaduna State, Mr. 442—real name Mubarak Abdulkarim—came to public prominence after police detained him for allegedly mocking Maryam Booth, whose sex tape was also leaked to the public.
