The Managing Director of Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA), Baffa Babba Dan Agundi has rewarded one of the agency’s officers, Halilu Kawo Jalo, for rejecting N500, 000 bribe.

Dan Agundi on Thursday while handing over the sum N1million to Jalo at the Agency’s head office described it as a token of appreciation for the display of honesty by the officer.

Jalo rejected the bribe offered to him when he arrested two trucks conveying more than 2000 cartons of alcoholic drinks valued at more than N50 million in the state.

“They offered me a bribe, but I declined because I am aware of the harm that alcohol does to people’s lives,”Jalo said.

Commenting further Jalo said, “Islam forbids drinking alcohol, and taking bribes is against Islam’s teachings.”

The spokesperson of the Agency, Nabilisi Abubakar in a statement received by SAHELIAN TIMES  said, Jalo intercepted the alcoholic drinks along Obasanjo Road while heading to Sabon Gari Area of the State.
