In a move to forestall any clash between its members and tricycle operators in Kano, KAROTA removed its personnel in major roads.

Tricyle operators embark on warning strike today Monday over the failure of the state government to suspend the collections of N100 as daily tax.

The strike left many people stranded in the state, some opted to trek to their respected places of business and hundreds of students didn’t go to schools while others arrived late.

SAHELIAN TIMES visited major roads and roundabouts but didn’t sight KAROTA personnel as they usually are on normal basis.

In some areas, the strike turned violent as many youths suspected to be operators of tricycles stormed roads; holding sticks, protesting, and throwing stones and sticks to tricycle operators who shunned the strike and came out for work.

In Sabon Titi, Sani Mainagge Gwale local government police had to disperse protesting youth believed to be tricycle operators after they blocked the road, throwing stones without sparing bus drivers even though they’re not their members.

Recall that last week, they took over major roads protesting in Kano to show their grievances over the untold hardship they’re going through as a result of daily tax they’re paying the state government.
