The kidnappers of Hajiya Ramatu Abarshi, and her daughter Ameera have demanded N100 million in ransom for them and two other members of their team.

Abarshi, a former Head of Department (HOD) of the Electoral and Electronics Engineering Department at Kaduna Polytechnic, and her daughter were abducted near Kasuwan Magani in Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

Family members said they were returning from a programme in Mariri town, Lere Local Government Area, Kaduna State, where they distributed relief items to the less privileged members of the society.

Ismail Abdallah, a member of the family said, “Kindly assist us with your prayers because we don’t know where to begin sourcing for N100 million.”

Abdallah, who was in the same vehicle as the former HOD prior to the abduction, stated that they had previously visited Tilden Kargiji village in Lere LGA, where she had distributed clothes to 40 orphans through her NGO Barkindo Rahama Initiative (BRAIN). “But they were kidnapped on the way back,” he explained.

“As fate would have it, I dropped from the vehicle to go to Ladduga to see our relations, only to hear about the abduction. She was taken alongside three members of her entourage, which included her daughter,” he added.

Isma’il also revealed that they are still negotiating with the abductors, who have demanded N100 million.
