Former Kano State Governo, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, yesterday celebrated his birthday in style with commissioning of a nomadic school, at Gangaren Gayya community in Rano Local Government area of the state.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Kwankwaso said that 300 pupils have already been enrolled in the school
He said, he decided to upgrade the school, which was formerly an islamiyya school, in order to extend western education to the children living in the area.
The former governor, who was the senator representing Kano Central in the 8th Senate promised to support the education of members of the community up to university level.
According to him, the commissioning of the school was the best way to celebrate his 64th birthday.
The school, which was built by Kwankwasiyya Development Foundation, is solar powered and has two blocks, which houses 6 classrooms.
“It is my cardinal agenda to provide education to people, especially children of the poor. This school has been here for a long time, “ he said.
