Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party Rabiu Kwankwaso, has said his NNPP and Labour Party are in talks to forge an alliance ahead of the 2023 presidential elections.

Kwankwaso, who stated this in an interview with the BBC monitored by Sahelian Times Saturday, said the merger talks are particularly important because the ruling APC and main opposition PDP did not field a vice-presidential candidate from the South-East.

The former Minister of Defense added that In pursuance of the alliance, a special committee has been set-up to work on all agreements and necessary compromises between the two parties and their candidates;

“We are really talking to Peter Obi, or at least saying that the committee is working to look into the matter (and cooperate with him), and friends and family are coming to talk to us about it,” the former Kano governor added.

However, Kwankwaso did not clarify the status of the ongoing talks, and the expected date of formation of the alliance.
