The National leader of the ruling party, All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Sunday in Kano has said Lagos and Kano states have critical roles to play in championing Nigerian peace and unity due to the cosmopolitan nature of both states.

In a press statement by Ganduje’s Chief Press Secretary, Abba Anwar, Tinubu was quoted to have said Nigeria is at a critical stage of its life and the only thing that would make it survive is unity and understanding. Lagos and Kano, which have gone through these over times, must show the way.

Tinubu, who spoke at the Kano Emirate Council when he paid a visit to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Bayero, said Nigeria needed unity and peace as the basic tonic to overcome ongoing challenges.

“Peace and development could be eluded if the nation continues the way it is going. Fundamentally, unity and tranquillity must be the hope that we can ride on,” Tinubu said.

He further said “One could see that today, I, Bola Tinubu, is sitting side by side with Governor (Abdullahi) Ganduje and this is a clear testimony that people, regardless of their tribe and religion, could come together and make a change.

“Use us as a symbol and make a difference that Lagos and Kano have been making together all these while.”

During his remarks, Emir Aminu Ado-Bayero, commended Tinubu for choosing Kano to celebrate his 65th birthday, saying such was a testimony to the unity and love he had for Nigeria.

He said traditional leaders were ready to give all the necessary support Nigeria required for unity and understanding among tribes and religions.

Earlier, Ganduje told the Emir that Tinubu was in Kano to foster national cohesion and to attend the 12th colloquium organised for his birthday.
