Libyans are today, Wednesday 17th February 2021 celebrating 10 years of the first protest that led to toppling of the country’s longest serving President, Moammar Gaddafi, despite the fact that since the revolution the country is still in civil war.
The celebration came at the time when the country is focusing on the interim government that are currently preparing general elections coming in December this year.
The celebration started since yesterday in Tripoli and other regions but with heavy security personnel presence.
Libya found itself in a civil war for over ten years after the revolution erupted in Arab countries that toppled many long serving presidents including Hosni Mobarak of Egypt.
One year after the end of Gaddafi’s regime, the country became a war zone and the hideout of criminals in Africa
Four years back, Libya divided into two, Tripoli government which is getting support from United Nations and General Khalifa’s government also supported by Egypt, UAE and Russia.
