Officials of Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) are allegedly extorting the sum of N600 Naira from any passenger who boards a luxury bus in the state.

Sahelian Times has gathered that the agency was initially collecting N1000 from every passenger before it was it was reduced to N600.

Passengers at Hotoro Motor Park have lamented that defaulters are not allowed to board the busses despite buying tickets from the luxury bus company.

Bello, who was almost left stranded in the park yesterday said that, “The agency officials refused to allow us to board the bus, even after we purchased the ticket from the bus company,”

He said, “We were almost left stranded until we paid N500 each, of which no receipt was given.

Another passenger told Sahelian Times that he has paid the N600 over five times and no receipt was ever issued to him on behalf of the agency.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the agency told Sahelian Times that, he was not aware of the development.

He however pledged to speak to his Managing Director, Dr. Baffa Babba Dan Agundi before getting back to us.
